| Thailand December 1997 |
I took a trip to Bangkok with a group of people in December 1997. The city has 8 million people. Pollution, lack of sanitation, and congestion is beyond belief in this southern port city. It was only after I went to Chaing Mai in northern Thailand did I appreciate the beauty of this country. The flight from L.A. to Seoul Korea is about 16 hours. After a refueling stop its another 6 hours to Bangkok. The countries currency has been in a tailspin since July 1997, so prices are very reasonable. Thai Airlines has a beautiful fleet of new 747-400 planes.
People everywhere you look !
Traffic beyond belief 7 days a week !
Water taxi on the River of the King, they also use the famous 'James Bond Boats'. !
The group stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheraton. The accomodations were beautiful, but the area its located on the river, hmmmm......
Orchids from the Hotel's beautiful collection.
Tuktuk's are a popular taxi, if you have a strong heart. I think they were cheap, I never had the nerve to get on one again.
